At Beaulieu, creating lasting value goes beyond our products, operations and business performance. It also means looking at the communities around us and asking ourselves how we can help them thrive. That’s the idea behind beau lieu together, Beaulieu’s committee for community engagement and supporting positive impact projects.
Inspired by the French words beau lieu, meaning “beautiful place”, the initiative aims to make the places around us better for people to live and work in. And we want to do that together, by involving our employees and building partnerships that create lasting value.
For beau lieu together, making an impact is more than a financial contribution. It’s about how we can help organizations grow stronger and become more independent over time.
“Financial support can be part of that, but we also want to share what we know. Our expertise in management, operations and other areas can help organizations improve the way they work, strengthen their business models and build a more sustainable future.” – Caroline De Clerck
This approach is centered on long-term impact. By combining financial support with knowledge, expertise, and employee involvement, we aim to help partner organizations become better equipped to achieve their goals.
“We assess potential projects based on their long-term impact, transparency, innovation and inclusivity. We also look for opportunities to build partnerships rather than simply provide one-off donations, without creating dependency on our support.” – Charlotte De Clerck
Our work focuses on three pillars: Education, Environment, and Local Communities. Here are some examples of what that looks like in practice.
Knowledge and experience can be just as valuable as financial support. That is why Beaulieu partners with Entrepreneurs for Entrepreneurs (OVO), a nonprofit organization that supports entrepreneurs in developing countries.
These entrepreneurs have already taken their first steps in business. With the right support, they can improve their operations, refine their business models, set sustainability goals and grow their companies. This helps create local jobs, strengthen communities and support long-term economic independence.
There are many ways to contribute. Alongside financial support, people can coach entrepreneurs, take part in bootcamps, organize internships or help monitor projects. It’s a good example of how sharing our knowledge and experience can help others build something that lasts.
Translation: Beaulieu International Group stands for more than profit. Together with Entrepreneurs for Entrepreneurs (OVO), we support African SMEs. Through coaching, expertise, and access to financing, OVO strengthens ambitious SMEs, enabling them to grow into investment-ready businesses that create jobs, generate income, and drive economic growth in their countries.
A healthy environment is another essential part of long-term value. Since 2024, Beaulieu has partnered with Lignaverda, a nonprofit organization that restores degraded land in Africa’s drylands through reforestation and other nature-restoration activities. These projects help improve biodiversity, strengthen climate resilience, and support local livelihoods.
In 2025, our support helped Lignaverda restore 25 hectares of land in Senegal’s Louga Region. Over its lifetime, the restored area is expected to remove a certain amount of CO2 from the atmosphere.
Beaulieu does not use the resulting carbon credits to offset its own emissions. Instead, our partnership with Lignaverda supports environmental projects that create a positive impact beyond our own value chain.
And we’re finding ways to involve our employees, too. In 2023, we started to plant trees for every respondent of our Employee Engagement Survey. Since 2024, we have done so through our collaboration with Lignaverda.
Our Global Movement Challenge also helps contribute to reforestation: throughout September, colleagues tracked their physical activity and helped grow our Beaulieu forest. The more we moved, the larger our forest grew.
And through Cycling for the Climate, one lucky colleague gets the opportunity to represent Beaulieu as our ambassador while visiting Lignaverda’s projects in Africa by bike. After the first participant travelled to Namibia and Botswana in 2025, a new colleague will head to Senegal in January 2027. Throughout the journey, we share our colleague's experiences to raise awareness of the project.
These initiatives show how we can connect everyday activities at Beaulieu with positive action beyond our business.
Our third pillar is about supporting the communities around us and helping people participate fully in society.
One example is our partnership with Special Olympics Belgium (SOB). The organization offers year-round sports training and competitions for people with intellectual disabilities, helping athletes develop their skills, build confidence, and foster meaningful connections.
We support SOB in several ways. Since 2025, we have provided our needle felt carpet for the bocce games at their National Games. We also encouraged colleagues to volunteer during the event.
In 2026, several Beaulieu employees volunteered at the National Games in Hautes Fagnes. For Erwin Zenner, the experience made a real impression:
“Being part of this event is incredibly rewarding. The energy is so positive – everyone is enthusiastic, supportive and fully engaged. After just one day, you can already feel the genuine appreciation from the athletes.”
This year, we’re taking our involvement a step further by joining the Special Olympics Belgium Futsal Cup. For the first time, our colleagues will not only volunteer but also take to the pitch themselves. This tournament is a Unified Event, where athletes with and without intellectual disabilities play together on the same team.
The initiative also fits perfectly with Energize2GROW, Beaulieu’s wellbeing program. By encouraging colleagues to get active together, build connections, and take part in socially meaningful activities, we bring physical wellbeing, inclusion, and community engagement together.
From helping entrepreneurs strengthen their businesses to restoring nature and making sport more inclusive, these partnerships take different forms. What they all have in common is a shared ambition: to create positive change that lasts.
